Collingwood faced a 27-point defeat in their Round Six clash against Southport in Queensland over the weekend.

The game started off slowly for the Pies as they conceded the opening goal. However, forward Reef McInnes stepped up and nailed a beautiful set shot to kickstart Collingwood’s scoring.

Despite trailing by 16 points at halftime, Collingwood made a strong comeback in the second quarter with early goals from Nathan Krueger and Co-captain Sam Glover. The team’s excellent ball use and hard running helped them close the gap, scoring a total of four goals in the second quarter.

Southport came out firing in the third quarter, extending their lead with three quick goals. Collingwood fought back with goals from Joe Richards and Jonathan Tomasiello, but Southport managed to maintain their lead until the end.

In an impressive display, young forward Patrick Farrant showcased his aerial abilities with a spectacular mark early in the game, followed by a composed set shot goal. AFL-listed forward Reef McInnes had a standout performance, contributing with two goals and 13 disposals. Small forward Joe Richards also shone, bagging consecutive goals in the third quarter.

Midfielder Finlay Macrae continued his consistent form, leading the midfield with 18 disposals and six clearances. Despite the loss, Collingwood showed promise and will look to bounce back in their upcoming Round Seven clash against the Northern Bullants next Saturday.
