At Cataract Surgery SA, we prioritize your visual outcomes following cataract surgery, ensuring you achieve the clarity you desire—whether that means enjoying life without glasses or using them as needed.

Our process begins right at the appointment booking stage, where we provide a detailed questionnaire. This helps us understand your vision preferences: do you want to see clearly at a distance, up close, or ideally both, with minimal reliance on glasses after your procedure?

Typically, many of our patients prefer to see distant objects, such as road signs or TV screens, without glasses, while using reading glasses for tasks that require close focus. Conversely, some choose to function without glasses for near activities but opt to wear them for driving or watching TV. An increasing number of patients, however, express a desire to minimize their use of glasses altogether for both distant and near tasks. This can be achieved through options like “monovision” or “trifocals” which we can discuss further.

Achieving your vision goals post-surgery can be influenced by various factors, and since each individual heals differently, we cannot guarantee a perfect outcome every single time.

If, after your cataract surgery, your vision doesn’t align with your initial expectations, there are still several options to refine your focus. You can consider glasses or contact lenses from your optometrist, which remain viable options post-surgery. Other procedures include replacing the implanted intraocular lens (IOL) with one that provides a different focal length, adding a second IOL over the initial one, or exploring laser vision correction.

Laser Vision Correction (LVC) is often an excellent solution, as it allows for adjustments without needing to return to the operating room, avoiding sedation and the accompanying limitations, while also reducing the number of post-procedure eye drops necessary. Moreover, LVC is known for its precision. However, it’s important to note that not every cataract surgery center offers this option. Selecting a practice that provides in-house laser vision correction can be greatly beneficial.

At Cataract Surgery SA, we not only focus on patients undergoing cataract surgery but also cater to individuals seeking Laser Vision Correction independently. This means we’re equipped to assist many patients who don’t reach their desired focus following cataract surgery, often at no extra cost. We’re here to ensure your post-surgery vision meets your expectations!
