Cricket fans, mark your calendars! The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is set to ignite the cricketing world, promising another month of thrilling encounters, breathtaking performances, and unforgettable moments. This tenth edition of the tournament will be co-hosted by two cricketing powerhouses, India and Sri Lanka, from February 7 to March 8, 2026.

## The Return to the Subcontinent: India & Sri Lanka Co-Host

For the second time, India will host the T20 World Cup, having previously done so in 2016, while Sri Lanka will also welcome the tournament again after being a host in 2012. The combination of these two nations promises a vibrant atmosphere, passionate crowds, and pitches that will test the skills of every player. A total of 55 matches will be played across eight electrifying venues – five in India and three in Sri Lanka.

In India, the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and Eden Gardens in Kolkata are slated to host matches. Sri Lanka's venues include the R. Premadasa Stadium and Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo, and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The grand finale is expected to be held at the colossal Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Interestingly, due to an existing agreement, Pakistan will play all its group-stage matches in Sri Lanka. Should they reach the semi-finals or final, these matches would also be relocated to Colombo.

## The Format: Bigger and Better with 20 Teams

The 2026 T20 World Cup will feature an expanded format, with 20 teams battling it out for supremacy – a structure successfully implemented in the 2024 edition. These teams will be initially divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the Super 8s stage.

The Super 8s will see the remaining eight teams split into two groups of four, playing another round-robin. From here, the top two teams from each Super 8s group will proceed to the knockout phase, comprising two semi-finals and the grand final.
