The Christian Petracca trade rumors are causing quite a stir in the AFL world.

News broke last week, courtesy of Channel 9’s Tom Morris, that the Melbourne superstar is feeling disenchanted with the club’s current direction and could potentially pursue a trade if he were out of contract. Despite having five years left on his contract, speculation continues to swirl around his future.

Morris recently added more fuel to the fire, stating on Nine’s Footy Furnace that Petracca is indeed looking to explore opportunities at another club by 2025. The situation, however, is complex, as it hinges on whether a trade request is a viable option for the midfielder. Morris emphasized that Petracca is evaluating his options carefully and is unlikely to make a move unless he’s confident about securing a transfer.

The report was further confirmed by Morris after inquiries from AFL legend Leigh Matthews, who shed light on Petracca’s temporary absence from the team due to injury. Despite initial frustrations from teammates regarding his time away in Noosa, it was later revealed that Petracca had received permission from the club to seek a change of environment during his recovery period. This miscommunication seems to have contributed to the rift between Petracca and the club.

Currently sidelined with significant injuries sustained in a collision during a game against Collingwood, Petracca’s absence on the field has been felt by his team. The Demons, once strong contenders, have seen their season take a downturn, with dwindling hopes of making it to the finals as they sit in 12th place on the ladder with a record of 11-11.

As the 2024 season nears its end, all eyes are on Petracca’s next move and how it will impact both his career and the future of the Melbourne Demons.
